Postdoctoral Researcher
Long lab
Main focus of current work
I am using genomics to map enhancer dynamics through craniofacial development.
Biography
I began to develop my interest in enhancer biology during my Bsc (Hons) in Biochemistry and Genetics at the University of Sheffield. I carried out my PhD in the lab of Dr Dan Bose at the University of Sheffield unravelling interactions between chromatin proteins and enhancer RNAs (eRNAs) in leukemia. During a two year postdoctoral research project in the same lab I examined RNA interactions with the histone acetyltransferase CBP. During this time, I was awarded a Lab Visit Grant by the Biochemical Society enabling a visit to the University of Colorado with Dr Matthew Taliaferro. I have now begun my Postdoctoral research project with Dr Hannah Long at the IGC at the University of Edinburgh, where I am excited to apply my knowledge of enhancer biology to understanding craniofacial disease.
Outside the lab
I like to read, enjoy baking and I am learning to crochet.
